Privacy Policy

For the gcalcli Google Calendar client. Effective 2 October 2026.

What this covers

"gcalcli" is a Google OAuth client registered by Umut Akın so that the command-line tool gcalcli can read and update his own Google Calendar from his own computer. It is a personal tool. It is not offered to anyone else, and no other Google account is meant to sign in to it.

What data it accesses

With the owner's consent, the client uses the Google Calendar scope to list calendars and to read, create, change and delete calendar events. It does not access any other Google data.

How the data is used

  • Calendar data is used only to show and keep the owner's own calendar accurate.
  • The sign-in token and any exported events are stored on the owner's computer.
  • The tool may be run by an AI assistant (Anthropic's Claude) acting on the owner's instructions, so calendar data can be processed by that assistant while it works for him.
  • Data is not sold, shared with or transferred to anyone else, and is never used for advertising.

Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing access

Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions. Revoking it stops the client from reaching the calendar; locally stored tokens are then useless and are deleted.
